MLS REVIEW 8 Aug 2026: Guilherme and Resch settle it either side of half-time for Houston

Houston Dynamo won 2-0 away at New England, and did all their damage either side of the interval. Guilherme scored on 45, right on the stroke of half-time, and A. Resch added the second on 63. New England did not score.

The bookings tell their own story, and they were not all Houston's. L. Ennali went into the book on 54 for the visitors; on 90 both sides picked one up, New England's B. Raines and a Houston player the record leaves unnamed. That is the shape of a lead being protected rather than a game seen out at ease.

Houston had done much the same at Sporting Kansas City on 2 August: 2-0 away, nothing conceded, Guilherme breaking the deadlock on 55 and A. Bouzat adding the other on 71 against a side down to ten men after L. Johnsen's red card on 45. New England came into this one off a 2-2 draw at CF Montreal, where C. Gil's penalty on 30 and D. Turgeman on 36 were pegged back by B. Vera on 52 and P. Owusu on 59. Against Houston they managed nothing at all.
