Scottish Championship PREVIEW 1 Aug 2026: Stenhousemuir open at Raith Rovers

Stenhousemuir travel to Raith Rovers on Saturday for the opening Scottish Championship card. Raith's League Cup group gave a fair account of the side: a 3-1 win over Elgin City on 11 July, a goalless draw at Kilmarnock, a 1-1 draw at Hamilton Academical and a 1-0 win over Peterhead on 21 July. Stenhousemuir came through their own group beating Forfar Athletic 2-0 at home on 11 July and winning 2-1 at Brechin City.

Ayr United host Arbroath on the same afternoon. Ayr and Stenhousemuir are paired at Ayr on 25 September.

Inverness Caledonian Thistle host Dunfermline Athletic. Inverness arrive in form: a 1-1 draw at home with East Fife in the League Cup, then a 2-0 win at Linlithgow Rose, a 1-0 win over St Johnstone and a 1-0 win at Greenock Morton. Dunfermline's League Cup group ran 3-0 down at East Kilbride, 4-1 against Dumbarton, 5-0 against Cove Rangers and 1-0 at St Mirren, and they meet Ross County in the last sixteen on 15 August.

Greenock Morton host Partick Thistle. Morton had a bruising League Cup group, beaten 1-0 at home by Linlithgow Rose, 2-0 at East Fife, 3-0 at St Johnstone and 1-0 at home by Inverness, while Partick beat Brechin City 6-0 and won 4-0 at Forfar Athletic before drawing 1-1 at Livingston and 2-2 at home with Stenhousemuir. Livingston host Queen's Park; Livingston put eight past Forfar without reply on 21 July, while Queen's Park beat Brora Rangers 3-1, won 2-0 at Kelty Hearts, lost 2-1 at Aberdeen and beat Queen of the South 3-1.
