Scottish Championship REVIEW 1 Aug 2026: Ayr United and Livingston open with 2-0 wins

Ayr United beat Arbroath 2-0 at home on the opening day. B. Summers scored on 44 minutes and R. Taylor added the second on 79. Ayr's July in the Premier Sports Cup ran a 3-2 win at Stranraer, a 1-0 win at Falkirk, a 2-0 home win over Edinburgh City and a 4-1 home win over Alloa Athletic.

Inverness Caledonian Thistle drew 0-0 at home to Dunfermline Athletic. The afternoon left almost nothing on the record: a booking for G. Shinnie on 18 minutes for Inverness, and one for C. Kane in the 90th for Dunfermline. Kane scored on 88 minutes in Dunfermline's 1-0 win at St Mirren on 26 July, their last Premier Sports Cup group game.

Livingston beat Queen's Park 2-0 at home, R. Muirhead scoring both, on 50 minutes and again on 77. B. Kabongolo was booked on 39 minutes for Livingston and M. Shiels on 41 for Queen's Park, who did not score.

Greenock Morton lost 1-0 at home to Partick Thistle, T. Letsosa scoring the only goal on 82 minutes. Morton had bookings for E. Brophy on 51 minutes, H. Cochrane on 54 and G. Gillespie on 62, while Partick's P. Reading was cautioned as early as the 15th minute and S. Drozd on 89.

Raith Rovers, at home, drew 1-1 with Stenhousemuir. P. McMullan put Raith in front on 19 minutes and L. Hodgkiss levelled on 30, and neither side scored again. The bookings ran M. Anderson of Stenhousemuir on 38 minutes, K. Montagu of Raith on 56, then E. O'Reilly on 85 and M. Gillies on 86, both Stenhousemuir.
