Partick Thistle beat Livingston 2-0 on Friday night, having won 1-0 away at Greenock Morton the previous Saturday. R. Crawford opened the scoring in the fourth minute, and Thistle doubled their lead on 44 with an own goal by Livingston's C. MacPherson, credited to Thistle.

Both sides arrived on the back of opening-weekend wins. Thistle had beaten Greenock Morton 1-0 through T. Letsosa's goal on 82 minutes, while Livingston opened their campaign with a 2-0 home win over Queen's Park in which R. Muirhead scored twice in the second half, on 50 and on 77. Here Livingston never found the same rhythm: two behind by the interval, they did not score after it.

The rest of the match went by in bookings. Crawford, having scored, was cautioned on 32. For Livingston, MacPherson was booked on 50 and M. Robertson on 54, and Thistle's D. O'Reilly followed on 57. It was a night Livingston will want to forget quickly.

Thistle turn to cup competition next, travelling to Hibernian in the League Cup last 16 on 16 August, while Livingston are next in the league at home to Dunfermline Athletic on 22 August.
