Scottish Championship REVIEW 8 Aug 2026: Stenhousemuir beat Morton 2-0 as Ayr are held at Dunfermline

Stenhousemuir produced the day's most convincing display, beating Greenock Morton 2-0. M. Anderson struck in the 57th minute and Stenhousemuir added a second in the 90th minute, the scorer unrecorded. K. Bilham was booked for Stenhousemuir in the 45th minute and L. Fairnie for Morton in the 63rd. Stenhousemuir had drawn 1-1 at Raith Rovers on the opening weekend; Morton had lost 1-0 at home to Partick Thistle.

Ayr United were held to a 1-1 draw at Dunfermline Athletic. A. Tod put Dunfermline ahead in the 14th minute and L. McBeth levelled in the 45th, with C. Kane booked for the hosts in the 60th. Ayr had won their opener 2-0 at home to Arbroath; Dunfermline had drawn 0-0 away at Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

Queen's Park went down 1-2 at home to Raith Rovers. C. Telfer put the visitors ahead in the 39th minute and A. Dowds added a penalty in the 58th before R. McLean pulled one back for Queen's Park in the 77th. Queen's Park had been beaten 2-0 at Livingston in their opener; Raith had drawn 1-1 at home with Stenhousemuir.

Arbroath and Inverness Caledonian Thistle played out a goalless draw. The bookings told the story of it: T. O'Brien in the 5th minute, S. Constable in the 26th and S. Mackie in the 67th for Arbroath, C. MacLeod in the 46th, L. Sole in the 79th and M. Bates in the 90th for Inverness. Arbroath had lost 2-0 at Ayr United on the opening weekend; Inverness had drawn 0-0 at home with Dunfermline Athletic.
