Scottish League One PREVIEW 1 Aug 2026: League One opens with Ross County at Peterhead

The opening day sends Ross County to Peterhead. County came through their League Cup group with a 4-1 win at Annan Athletic, a 3-1 win at home over Clyde, a 1-1 draw at home with Dundee and a 3-0 win at Airdrieonians, and they meet Dunfermline Athletic in the last sixteen on 15 August. Peterhead's own group brought a 1-0 home defeat by Hamilton Academical, a 3-1 win at Elgin City, a 1-0 defeat at Raith Rovers and a goalless draw at home with Kilmarnock.

Alloa Athletic open at home against East Fife. East Fife drew 1-1 at Inverness Caledonian Thistle, beat Greenock Morton 2-0 and Linlithgow Rose 3-1, both at home, and drew 1-1 at St Johnstone. Alloa lost 2-0 at Edinburgh City, drew 2-2 at home with Stranraer and 1-1 at home with Falkirk, and lost 4-1 at Ayr United.

Montrose host Hamilton Academical, both arriving from lively League Cup groups. Montrose beat Dundee United 1-0 at home, won 2-0 at Stirling Albion and 2-0 at Arbroath, then lost 2-0 at home to Spartans. Hamilton won 1-0 at Peterhead, drew 1-1 at home with Raith Rovers, lost 1-0 at Kilmarnock and beat Elgin City 5-0 at home.

Cove Rangers welcome Airdrieonians, and neither side arrives settled. Cove beat East Kilbride 3-2 at home, then lost 4-0 at home to St Mirren, 5-0 at Dunfermline Athletic and 2-0 at Dumbarton. Airdrieonians lost 4-2 at Dundee and 1-0 at Clyde, beat Annan Athletic 3-0 at home and were then beaten 3-0 at home by Ross County.

East Kilbride host Queen of the South. East Kilbride beat Dunfermline Athletic 3-0 at home, lost 3-2 at Cove Rangers, beat Dumbarton 5-3 at home and lost 4-3 at St Mirren. Queen of the South drew 1-1 at home with Kelty Hearts, won 3-0 at Brora Rangers, lost 4-1 at home to Aberdeen and lost 3-1 at Queen's Park.
