Scottish League Two PREVIEW 1 Aug 2026: Spartans visit Annan as Forfar host Kelty Hearts

Spartans travel to Annan Athletic on Saturday off a Premier Sports Cup group stage that ran 1-2 at home to Arbroath on 11 July, 1-3 at home to Stirling Albion on 14 July and 0-4 at Dundee United on 21 July, before a 2-0 win at Montrose on 25 July sent them into the league with something to build on.

Annan have less. They lost every one of their group matches: 1-4 at home to Ross County on 11 July, 0-5 at home to Dundee on 14 July, 0-3 at Airdrieonians on 18 July and 1-4 at Clyde on 21 July. Neither side, then, arrives with momentum, but only one of them has a win behind it.

Forfar Athletic host Kelty Hearts. Forfar's cup group ran 0-2 at Stenhousemuir on 11 July, 0-4 at home to Partick Thistle on 14 July and 0-8 at Livingston on 21 July, before a 3-1 win at home over Brechin City on 25 July. Kelty drew 1-1 at Queen of the South on 11 July, lost 0-2 at home to Queen's Park on 14 July, beat Brora 3-2 at home on 21 July and lost 3-0 at Aberdeen on 25 July.

Clyde host Stranraer. Clyde beat Airdrieonians 1-0 at home on 14 July, lost 3-1 at Ross County on 18 July, beat Annan Athletic 4-1 at home on 21 July and lost 4-0 at Dundee on 25 July. Stranraer lost 3-2 at home to Ayr United on 11 July, drew 2-2 at Alloa Athletic on 18 July, lost 2-0 at home to Edinburgh City on 21 July and lost 3-0 at Falkirk on 25 July.

Stirling Albion host Dumbarton. Stirling lost 1-0 at home to Dundee United on 11 July, won 3-1 at Spartans on 14 July, lost 2-0 at home to Montrose on 18 July and lost 1-0 at Arbroath on 25 July. Dumbarton lost 4-0 at home to St Mirren on 11 July and 4-1 at Dunfermline on 14 July, lost 5-3 at East Kilbride on 18 July, and beat Cove Rangers 2-0 at home on 25 July.

The fifth fixture of the round is Edinburgh City against Elgin City. Edinburgh City lost 5-0 at home to Falkirk on 11 July, beat Alloa Athletic 2-0 at home on 14 July, lost 2-0 at Ayr United on 18 July and won 2-0 at Stranraer on 21 July. Elgin lost 3-1 at Raith Rovers on 11 July, 3-1 at home to Peterhead on 14 July, 1-0 at home to Kilmarnock on 18 July and 5-0 at Hamilton Academical on 25 July.
