Scottish League Two REVIEW 8 Aug 2026: Dumbarton beat Clyde; Kelty and Annan open their accounts

Dumbarton beat Clyde 1-0 through S. Honeyman's goal on 58 minutes. It is Dumbarton's first win of the season, a week after they lost 2-0 at Stirling Albion to a J. Allan penalty on 18 and a second Allan goal on 56. Clyde had won their own opener 3-1 at home to Stranraer and never got going here, C. Howie booked on 61 and A. Murdoch on 68 as the afternoon got away from them.

Elgin City and Forfar Athletic shared two goals in a 1-1 draw, a result that leaves neither side beaten this season. K. Girvan put Elgin in front on 18 and S. Shepherd levelled on 39; after the break there was nothing but yellow cards. Elgin had opened with a 5-0 win away at Edinburgh City, while Forfar beat Kelty Hearts 1-0 at home on the same afternoon.

Kelty Hearts beat Stirling Albion 3-2 for their first points of the new campaign. L. Moore scored on six minutes and R. Shanley made it 2-0 on 31, before Stirling came back through a J. Allan penalty on 65 and R. McLean on 80. R. Cole settled it for Kelty on 90. Stirling, who had won 2-0 at home to Dumbarton on the opening weekend, lost for the first time this season.

The Spartans and Edinburgh City drew 2-2. R. Waugh gave Edinburgh City the lead on 16, M. McNulty levelled from the penalty spot on 76, B. Whyte put Spartans in front on 80, and I. Lawson equalised on 87. Spartans had won their opener 4-2 away at Annan Athletic, McNulty scoring twice on 90 minutes there, one of them from the penalty spot; Edinburgh City take their first point of the season after a 5-0 home defeat by Elgin on the opening weekend.

Annan Athletic got their season moving with a 1-0 win away at Stranraer, A. Roy scoring on 78. Both sides had lost their opening fixtures, Annan at home to Spartans and Stranraer away at Clyde. Stranraer have now lost both of their matches; Annan have their first win.
