Scottish Premiership REVIEW 1 Aug 2026: Nisbet penalty and Mayo winner sink Hearts; Phillips brace beats Falkirk

Aberdeen came from behind to beat Hearts 2-1, with both of their goals arriving in the 90th minute. Oisin McEntee had put Hearts in front on 35 minutes and that lead held until the very end, when Kevin Nisbet equalised from the penalty spot and Lewis Mayo followed almost immediately with the winner. Hearts finished with ten men, Stuart Findlay sent off in the same closing minute; Nisbet was booked in that passage too, as were Bradley Lyons on 34 and Aremu Afeez on 71 for Aberdeen, and Jordi Altena on 41 and Harry Milne on 89 for Hearts. The win came days after Hearts' Champions League exit, beaten 4-0 away by Sturm Graz and then 2-0 at home in the return.

St Mirren won 2-0 at Falkirk, both goals from Killian Phillips. He opened the scoring on eleven minutes and settled it on 87, and was booked on 88. Ryan Carr on 66, Henry Fieldson on 80 and Luke Thomas on 90 were booked as well, the visitors doing most of the afternoon's damage in both senses. Falkirk did not score, and after Phillips' late second there was no way back for them.
