Scottish Premiership REVIEW 9 Aug 2026: Celtic win 5-1 at Kilmarnock, Hibernian 2-1 at Rangers

K. Hogh scored for Celtic at Kilmarnock in the 2nd minute, the 33rd and the 35th. B. Nygren made it four in the 47th and L. McCowan a fifth in the 75th, either side of a Kilmarnock consolation from M. Schjonning-Larsen in the 56th, and Celtic won 5-1. Celtic have won both of their opening fixtures, 1-0 at home to Dundee on 3 August and this one. Kilmarnock have lost both, having gone down 4-3 at St Johnstone on 2 August.

Rangers were beaten at home by Hibernian, 2-1. J. Campbell converted a 12th-minute penalty for the visitors, and Rangers were level only in the 85th, and then through an own goal, M. Chaiwa turning the ball into his own net. It did not hold: C. Wright scored in the 90th to win it. Rangers drew 1-1 away at Dundee United on 31 July and have now lost at home; Hibernian had been beaten 2-1 at home by Motherwell on 2 August.

Hearts put four past Dundee United without reply. T. Renaud scored in the 4th minute and C. Miller converted a penalty in the 12th, before C. Braga in the 56th and J. McPake in the 67th finished it off. It was a response Hearts needed: they lost both legs of their Champions League qualifier against Sturm Graz, 4-0 away on 21 July and 2-0 at home on 28 July, and then dropped into the Europa League to be beaten 6-1 at Benfica on 6 August.

Motherwell and Falkirk shared a goalless draw, the bookings the busiest thing about it: F. Yeats and B. Krauhaus cautioned for Falkirk, M. Moormann and L. Fadinger for Motherwell. Motherwell had won 2-1 at Hibernian on 2 August; Falkirk were beaten 2-0 at home by St Mirren on 1 August.
