UEFA Champions League PREVIEW 5 Aug 2026: Fenerbahce host Sturm Graz as Aarhus welcome Sabah Baku

Fenerbahce welcome Sturm Graz for the first leg of their Champions League tie. They saw off Gornik Zabrze with a 1-0 home win on 21 July, Talisca scoring on 37 minutes, and a 1-1 draw away on 29 July in which Talisca scored again, from the penalty spot on 12 minutes, before M. Sacek levelled for the hosts on 45.

Sturm Graz arrive having taken Hearts apart over two legs, winning 4-0 at home on 21 July and 2-0 away on 28 July. Jon Gorenc Stankovic opened the scoring in the fourth minute of the first leg and Jeyland Mitchell on 50, Luca Weinhandl on 53 and Jurgen Heil on 59 added the rest; S. Seidl on 64 and E. Soglo on 68 did the damage in the return.

Aarhus host Sabah Baku after a remarkable turnaround against Lech Poznan. They lost the first leg 4-1 at home on 21 July, Jesper Hansen sent off on 37 minutes with Aarhus already a goal down, and Kristian Arnstad scoring their goal on 55. In the return in Poznan on 29 July they won 4-1 the other way: T. Bech on 32, K. Arnstad from the penalty spot on 55 and F. Tingager on 75 made it 3-0 on the night, and the match went to extra time, where F. Jagiello pulled one back for Lech on 95 and T. Kristjansson scored on 100. Aarhus won the shootout 4-3. Arnstad scored in both legs.

Sabah Baku beat The New Saints 2-0 at home, Veljko Simic scoring on 66 minutes and Kaheem Parris on 84, and 2-1 away through Joy Lance Mickels on 28 and Rahman Dashdamirov on 42, Joshua Lock replying on 89. They then beat KuPS 1-0 at home, Simic scoring on 45 minutes, and 2-0 away, V. Simic on 52 and J. Mickels on 70. The one blot is discipline: Steve Solvet was sent off in the 90th minute of the opening leg against The New Saints.
