Norwich City beat Birmingham 2-1 at Carrow Road, taking the lead in the 28th minute through Oscar Schwartau, who arrived on the edge of the area after a passing exchange between Marcelino Nunez and Papa Amadou Diallo before firing into the net; Diallo doubled it in the 39th minute, slotting home from close range after Andre Brooks' low, driven cross across the box, per VAVEL. Birmingham pulled one back through Carlos Vicente in the 64th minute, finishing from a Liam Millar cross from the left, but could not find an equaliser. It was a bad-tempered afternoon for the hosts, who picked up five yellow cards: Benjamin Chrisene (13'), Jose Cordoba (25'), Jack Stacey (59'), Schwartau (60', for simulation after a penalty appeal was waved away) and Jovon Makama (83'). VAVEL reports it as Norwich's second straight win.

West Bromwich Albion won 0-1 at Derby County despite playing more than an hour with ten men. Aune Selland Heggebø scored the only goal in the 16th minute, finishing first-time past goalkeeper Jacob Zetterström after Callum Styles won a loose ball from an intercepted Isaac Price pass and Jimmy-Jay Morgan's low cross picked him out, per the Express and Star. West Brom debutant Brayann Pereira was booked in the first half for pulling back Mo Fuseini, then sent off in the 34th minute for a second yellow after lunging in on Charlie Taylor; he pulled his shirt over his head as he left the pitch. His replacement, Nolan Galves, then went off injured early in the second half after fouling Fuseini himself, leaving West Brom to see out the rest of the match with Styles switched to right-back. Derby's best chance of the half came from a Lars-Jorgen Salvesen header from eight yards in the 68th minute, and Nat Phillips cleared off the line from a late scramble as West Brom held on.

Charlton Athletic and QPR drew 0-0 at The Valley. Tyreece Campbell had a goal ruled out for a tight offside call around the half-hour mark after a move involving Oliver Skipp, and QPR's Jeremy Lamptey went off with an apparent hamstring issue in the 36th minute.
