Stenhousemuir beat Inverness Caledonian Thistle 3-1 and did it in a burst either side of the interval. O'Donnell scored on 23 minutes and again on 50; Sole pulled one back for Inverness two minutes later, and Young restored the two-goal lead on 57. Everything that decided the match happened inside thirty-four minutes of playing time.

Arbroath 1-0 Livingston was the afternoon's hard one. MacPherson was sent off on 44 minutes, Reilly scored four minutes into the second half, and Constable was sent off on 86. Two red cards and one goal is the shape of a match nobody enjoyed and Arbroath won.

Ayr United and Greenock Morton drew 1-1. Murphy converted a penalty on 44 minutes and Brophy equalised on 63, and the last half hour passed without a third goal.

Partick Thistle and Queen's Park finished goalless. It is the only fixture of the four that produced nothing at all, and on a card that also produced two dismissals it may be the one both sides settle for.

Six goals and two red cards across four matches, with one side — Stenhousemuir — scoring half of them.
