The Spartans host Clyde at Ainslie Park, and Darren Young's side arrive having won three of their opening four matches — the exception a 3-0 defeat by Montrose on 25 August. That is the best run on this card and it comes to the club that has spent the shortest time in this division. All four fixtures kick off at 15:00.

Stranraer against Kelty Hearts at the LIME Stadium comes with an honest injury note attached, from the player himself. Evan Dunne picked up an ankle problem against The Spartans and expects to play through it again: "I have just kind of managed it through the weekend and then same again, hopefully, this weekend." He missed Tuesday's KDM Evolution Trophy win over Gala Fairydean Rovers and scored in the 2-2 draw at Stirling Albion before that, alongside Lewis Dobbie — a result he took badly: "I was still annoyed on Monday and it felt like a defeat the way the game went." Stranraer have won their last two at home, against The Spartans in the league and Gala 3-0 in midweek.

Annan Athletic host Dumbarton having spent the week adding players rather than resting them: Sena Niang has arrived, along with the midfielder Steven Buchanan on loan from Alloa Athletic until January and a pair on loan from Queen's Park. Dumbarton come from a 2-2 draw with Celtic B in the KDM Evolution Trophy on 25 August, which is the kind of midweek fixture that tells a manager about his squad and nothing at all about his league season.

Elgin City against Stirling Albion completes the card. Stirling's fortnight reads better than most at this level — a 3-1 win at Airdrieonians in the KDM Evolution Trophy on Tuesday, and the 2-2 draw with Stranraer before it in which they twice needed to answer. For Elgin, as for Annan and The Spartans, this is the third Saturday of a season that is still finding its shape, which is exactly when a home win is worth the most.
