Rangers needed a substitute to break St Mirren down at Ibrox. Bojan Miovski, on for Djeidi Gassama, scored in the closing seconds of normal time to make it 1-0, latching onto a Ryan Naderi flick and lofting the ball over goalkeeper Jacob Chapman, who had made a string of saves to keep the scoreline level until then. Per Yahoo Sports, the win was Rangers' fourth in a row. Danny Rohl's side were without captain Lawrence Shankland, ruled out three to four months with a hamstring tear, and Youssef Chermiti, still recovering from a long-term ACL injury; Badredine Bouanani, on loan from Stuttgart, made his Rangers debut, and St Mirren gave a first appearance to Louis Jackson.
Celtic made it six wins in a row this season with a 1-0 win at St Johnstone, Mika Baur scoring the only goal in the 52nd minute for his first Celtic goal since his summer move from SC Paderborn, reported at a fee of around £6.8 million. Celtic Quick News describes the move behind it: Sebastian Tounekti's cross from the left was only half-cleared, Kasper Hogh knocked it on to Haissem Hassan, and Hassan's low cross from the right found Baur to finish from close range. It was also Celtic's sixth straight win over St Johnstone at McDiarmid Park. St Johnstone were missing Yang Hyun-jun, on Asian Games duty with South Korea, and Celtic debutant goalkeeper Sam Johnstone had already been called into action, saving from Joe Cotterill in the 20th minute.
