Manchester United marked their return to the Champions League proper after more than 1,000 days away with a comfortable 4-0 win over debutants Sabah at Old Trafford, while Bayern Munich put five past Bodo/Glimt as the League Phase's second matchday continued on 10 September 2026.

Matheus Cunha, Bruno Fernandes, Benjamin Šeško and Lisandro Martínez scored for United inside the first 68 minutes as Sabah, appearing in the competition for the first time in the Azerbaijani club's history, were given little foothold. It was United's first clean sheet of the season after conceding six goals in their opening three matches. Manager Michael Carrick called the performance "really encouraging", praising Benjamin Šeško for offering "a different kind of threat" after the striker scored again having come off the bench to score against Everton previously. Sabah manager Valdas Dambrauskas, whose starting XI featured eleven different nationalities and who himself became the first Lithuanian to manage a team in the Champions League proper, said of United's play: "When you don't squeeze that space and you allow those players to turn and run it is almost impossible to stop them."

Bayern Munich beat Bodo/Glimt 5-0 at the Allianz Arena, Jamal Musiala opening the scoring three minutes into the second half before Harry Kane, Alphonso Davies and a Michael Olise brace, the second in stoppage time, completed the rout; Bodo/Glimt were reduced to ten men late on when Odin Bjortuft was sent off. It was Musiala's first start since he collapsed twice in pre-season friendlies with a neurological issue, and manager Vincent Kompany said the decision to start him was "really all about performance", with Musiala having earned his place in training. Bodo/Glimt coach Kjetil Knutsen had said beforehand: "In my opinion, we'll face the best team in the world tomorrow. That's perfect because we'll know where we really stand."

Como's first-ever European fixture, in the club's 119-year history, ended in a 4-1 win over RB Leipzig at a redeveloped Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia, Martin Baturina, Anastasios Douvikas, Assane Diao and Maximo Perrone scoring either side of an Andrija Maksimovic reply. It was also the first meeting between the two clubs, and the first Champions League match in charge for new Leipzig head coach Martin Demichelis, who had won there and scored while playing for Milan and called Como "a very good side that play an intriguing style of football and move the ball very well" before kick-off. Como's own head coach, Cesc Fabregas, said he was "honoured to be the first coach in the history of Como to participate in the Champions League", and afterwards allowed himself only a brief celebration: "I am happy, but it will only last five minutes, because then we have to prepare against Parma on Monday."

PSV Eindhoven and Shakhtar Donetsk drew 1-1 at the Philips Stadion, Gleiker Mendoza's stoppage-time finish before half-time cancelled out three minutes into the second half by Sergino Dest. PSV had lost their opening Champions League match in three of the previous four seasons; the draw avoided a fourth defeat, though PSV manager Peter Bosz felt the wrong side had come away with the extra point, saying afterwards he believed PSV "should win at home against Shakhtar" and that his side had been "especially not good enough in possession", losing the ball too quickly to build any calm in their play.

Fenerbahce and Roma drew 1-1 in Istanbul in the first-ever meeting between the clubs, and Fenerbahce's first Champions League league-phase appearance since 2008. Bryan Cristante put Roma ahead just before the interval, only for Archie Brown to level three minutes into the second half. Roma head coach Gian Piero Gasperini said afterwards: "We played a good match, it wasn't easy on this pitch and in this environment. They played on the counterattack and had some very quick players, so this draw was the result, which isn't bad for the league standings."

Slavia Prague were beaten 2-3 by Lens despite twice taking the lead through Danijel Sturm, and despite playing from the 49th minute with ten men after substitute Mikulas Konecny was sent off three minutes after coming on. Abdallah Sima, scoring against a club he once represented, levelled for Lens at 1-1 before Sturm restored Slavia's lead in the 88th minute; Florian Thauvin and Ruben Aguilar then struck either side of stoppage time to complete the turnaround. It was the first Champions League meeting between the two clubs.
