Annan Athletic
Also written as Annan.
The club
Annan Athletic were founded in December 1942, originally as the Annan Air Training Corps side, and play at Galabank in Annan, Dumfries and Galloway. The ground holds 2,504, of which 500 are seated. They are the Black and Golds, or the Galabankies, and play in black and gold. Annan were elected to the Scottish Football League in 2008, taking the Third Division place left vacant by the collapse of Gretna, and this is their nineteenth season in the senior leagues.
Recent seasons
Annan won promotion from League Two through the play-offs in 2022/23, beating Clyde 5-2 on aggregate in the final. They then had two seasons in League One: eighth in 2023/24 with 39 points from 9 wins, 12 draws and 15 defeats, and ninth in 2024/25 with 36 points, which took them into the play-offs at the wrong end. They lost the final to East Fife 4-3 on aggregate and went back down.
In 2025/26 they finished seventh in League Two with 41 points from 36 games, 10 wins, 11 draws and 15 defeats, scoring 47 and conceding 58, in a division won by East Kilbride on 69 points.
Honours and landmarks
Annan's honours come from before their SFL election. They won the East of Scotland League four times, in 1989/90, 1999/2000, 2000/01 and 2006/07, and the South of Scotland League twice, in 1983/84 and 1986/87. Since 2008 the club's one promotion is the League Two play-off win of 2022/23. Their best run in the Scottish Cup is the fifth round, reached in 2021/22.
Record attendance, record win and record defeat are not established. The club does not publish a records page, the Wikipedia article carries no records table, and the Football Club History Database page for the club could not be retrieved. Nothing is asserted here in their place.
Notable scorelines
No club record win or defeat is published in the sources consulted. The results a writer can use are recent ones. The 2023 League Two play-off final against Clyde, won 5-2 on aggregate, is the club's high point in the senior leagues. The 2025 League One play-off final against East Fife, lost 4-3 on aggregate, is the corresponding low. From July 2026, the League Cup group brought a 5-0 home defeat by Dundee.
Head-to-head notes
Annan do not publish all-time head-to-head records, and no published all-time record was established against any 2026/27 League Two club. Recent form against divisional rivals is available.
