The club
Caernarfon Town were founded in 1937 in the walled town of Caernarfon, Gwynedd, in north-west Wales, tracing an earlier lineage through Carnarvon Athletic (1876) and Caernarvon Ironopolis. They are nicknamed the Canaries, a name and a yellow-and-green strip that date from 1895, and are also known locally as Cofis. The home ground is The Oval, capacity 3,000 with 600 seated; the club played temporarily at Maesdu Park in Llandudno while The Oval underwent major renovation. The current manager is Richard Davies.
Caernarfon Town are not Carmarthen Town, a separate Welsh club based in Carmarthen in the south-west, playing in Cymru South; the two share only the word "Town" and a passing resemblance in the place names, Caernarfon and Carmarthen being different towns at opposite ends of Wales. They are also not Bangor City, the other senior club of the immediate area, nor any of the other Cymru Premier sides carrying a place name.
Recent seasons
Caernarfon spent 1980 to the mid-1990s in the English pyramid, joining the Lancashire Combination in 1980 and winning that championship in 1981-82, before returning to Welsh football. They won the Cymru Alliance, the second tier, in 2000-01, 2015-16 and 2017-18, each time going up to the Cymru Premier. In 2025-26 they finished fourth of twelve in the Cymru Premier and won the Welsh Cup for the first time, beating Flint Town United 3-0 in the final.

Cymru Alliance champions three times, 2000-01, 2015-16 and 2017-18. Welsh League North champions four times, 1946-47, 1965-66, 1977-78 and 1978-79, and Lancashire Combination champions in 1981-82. Welsh Cup winners once, in 2025-26. FAW Trophy winners twice, 1977-78 and 2012-13, and Cymru Alliance League Cup winners four times, 2000-01, 2013-14, 2015-16 and 2016-17. Their best-remembered season before promotion to senior Welsh football came in 1986-87, when they beat Stockport County and York City, both English Football League clubs at the time, in the FA Cup before losing to Second Division Barnsley after a third-round replay.
