The club

Crystal Palace were founded on 10 September 1905 and play at Selhurst Park in Selhurst, south London, a ground they have used since 1924. Capacity is 25,194. The club are the Eagles and play in red and blue vertical stripes.

Recent seasons

Palace have been a mid-table Premier League side throughout this period, and then a trophy-winning one. They finished 14th with 44 points in 2020/21, 12th with 48 in 2021/22 with a run to the FA Cup semi-finals, 11th with 45 in 2022/23 and 10th with 49 in 2023/24.

In 2024/25 they were 12th with 53 points and won the FA Cup, beating Manchester City 1-0 in the final, the first major trophy in the club's history. That took them into Europe, where UEFA's multi-club ownership rules demoted them from the Europa League to the Conference League.

The 2025/26 season was the strangest of the run: 15th in the Premier League with 45 points from 38 games, 11 wins, 12 draws and 15 defeats, 41 goals scored and 51 conceded, and a European trophy. Palace beat Liverpool on penalties after a 2-2 draw in the Community Shield at Wembley on 10 August 2025, Dean Henderson saving twice. They went out of the FA Cup in the third round to non-league Macclesfield, and reached the League Cup quarter-finals, beating Liverpool 3-0 at Anfield on 29 October 2025 before losing to Arsenal in December. The Conference League campaign ran to 17 matches, ten wins, four draws and three defeats, 27 goals scored and 12 conceded. They beat Fiorentina 3-0 at Selhurst Park in the quarter-final on 9 April 2026 and won the final 1-0 against Rayo Vallecano at the Red Bull Arena in Leipzig on 27 May 2026, Jean-Philippe Mateta turning in an Adam Wharton rebound from six yards in the 51st minute in front of 39,176. It was the club's first European trophy and, with the FA Cup and Community Shield, completed the first trophy double in its history.

Honours and landmarks

The FA Cup of 2024/25, the FA Community Shield of 2025 and the UEFA Conference League of 2025/26 are the club's honours at this level, all won under Oliver Glasner and all within 13 months. Record home attendance is 51,482 against Burnley on 11 May 1979, the night Palace clinched the Second Division title with a 2-0 win. Jim Cannon holds the appearance record with 660 competitive matches between 1973 and 1988, and Peter Simpson is the leading scorer with 165 goals between 1929 and 1935. The record fee received is £68m for Eberechi Eze to Arsenal in August 2025, and the record paid is £48m for Jørgen Strand Larsen from Wolverhampton Wanderers in February 2026.

Notable scorelines

Record win: 9-0 against Barrow on 10 October 1959. Record defeat: 0-9 away to Liverpool on 12 September 1989, which remains Liverpool's biggest top-flight win and has its own place in the record books. The 2025 FA Cup final against Manchester City and the 2026 Conference League final against Rayo Vallecano are the two matches the modern club is measured by.

What is confirmed from 2025/26 is a set of individual results. Palace drew 0-0 at Chelsea on 17 August 2025 and beat Liverpool 2-1 at Selhurst Park on 27 September 2025, then beat Liverpool again, 3-0 at Anfield in the League Cup on 29 October 2025. They lost 2-1 at Everton on 5 October 2025, 1-0 at Arsenal on 26 October 2025 and 2-1 at home to Manchester United on 30 November 2025. Manchester City did the double over them, 3-0 at Selhurst Park on 14 December 2025 and 3-0 at the Etihad on 13 May 2026, the latter Palace's heaviest defeat of the season. Right now (2026/27)

Pierre Sage was appointed on 15 June 2026 on a three-year contract. He replaced Oliver Glasner, who left when his contract expired on 27 May 2026, the day of the Conference League final.

Two significant players have been sold. Maxence Lacroix joined Chelsea on 30 July 2026 for £52m, and the academy full-back Danny Imray went to Wrexham on 29 July 2026 for £5m. The incoming business has been modest by comparison: right-back Óscar Mingueza arrived from Celta Vigo on a free transfer on 9 July 2026, midfielder Amaari Sealey from AFC Wimbledon on 17 July for an undisclosed fee, and centre-back Alfie Mulvenna from Larne on 29 July. Goalkeeper Owen Goodman went on loan to Dundee for the season on 25 July, and Hindolo Mustapha to Wigan Athletic on 4 July.

Pre-season was uneven. Palace beat Swindon Town 5-1 on 18 July 2026 behind closed doors, lost 3-0 at Bromley on 25 July, and in the Como Cup on 28 July lost 3-0 to Lens and drew 0-0 with Famalicão, both fixtures carried on the same date. Winning the Conference League has put the club into the Europa League league phase for 2026/27. The Premier League season runs from 21 August 2026 to 30 May 2027; Palace open away at Everton on 22 August 2026 and host Manchester City on 28 August 2026, that match moved forward a day from 29 August for Sky Sports.
