The club
The feed calls them Dinamo Tirana, and for most of their history that is what they were. Football Club Dinamo City is an Albanian club from Tirana, founded on 3 March 1950 by the Interior Ministry under the communist regime. They were renamed KS Olimpik Tirana in 1995 in an attempt to shed the communist association, reverted two years later, and on 25 August 2023 president Ardian Bardhi announced a rebrand to Dinamo City ahead of the 2023-24 season, tied to a project to join the network of Manchester City. Their own ground is the Selman Stërmasi Stadium in Tirana, capacity 7,308, but it does not meet UEFA requirements and the club has played both its European ties and its 2026-27 home league fixtures at the Elbasan Arena in Elbasan. The nicknames are Dinamovitët, Blutë and Nëndetësja Blu, the Blue Submarine. They play in light blue. The ultras group is the Blue Boys, formed in 2008. Ilir Daja is the manager.
Recent seasons
Dinamo are the second most decorated club in Albania after their Tirana rivals KF Tirana, but the modern record is one of collapse and slow recovery. They were relegated for the first time in their history in 2011-12, finishing last with 13 points from 26 matches and only three wins, and spent most of the following decade outside the top flight. They were relegated again in 2021-22, ninth of ten with 29 points, promoted straight back, and finished seventh in 2023-24 with 47 points from 36 matches.
The recovery has been quick since. In 2024-25 they were fourth with 55 points from 38 matches, 14 wins, 13 draws and 11 defeats, and won the Albanian Cup, Peter Itodo top-scoring with 13. In 2025-26 they were fourth again, with 52 points from 39 matches across the split, 13 wins, 13 draws and 13 defeats, 45 goals scored and 38 conceded. They retained the Albanian Cup and won the Albanian Supercup on 28 December 2025, their first Supercup since 2008. Dejvi Bregu was top scorer with 10.

Dinamo have been drawn against Ajax, Austria Wien, Sporting CP, Beşiktaş, Dinamo București, Marseille, Brøndby, CSKA Sofia, Sheriff Tiraspol, Carl Zeiss Jena, Aberdeen and Hajduk Split across their history, and have won eight ties. Notable early rounds: a 1-0 aggregate win over Ħamrun Spartans in the 1985-86 UEFA Cup first round before losing 1-0 on aggregate to Sporting CP; a 5-3 aggregate win over Chernomorets Burgas in the 1989-90 Cup Winners' Cup qualifying round, with the 4-0 home leg, then a 2-1 aggregate defeat to Dinamo București despite winning the first leg 1-0 in Tirana; and a 3-2 aggregate win over FBK Kaunas in the 2002-03 Champions League first qualifying round before a 5-0 aggregate loss to Brøndby. After a gap of almost fifteen years the club returned to Europe in 2025-26 and had its best modern run. They beat Atlètic Club d'Escaldes 3-2 on aggregate in the second qualifying round, then knocked out Hajduk Split 4-3, winning the home leg 3-1 after extra time on 14 August 2025 with goals from Baton Zabërgja, Eridon Qardaku and Hekuran Berisha and losing the return 2-1. They went out in the play-off round to Jagiellonia Białystok, beaten 3-0 in Poland and drawing 1-1 at home for a 4-1 aggregate. In the second qualifying round they drew 1-1 away at Aluminij at the Ljudski vrt in Maribor on 23 July, Berisha scoring, and won the return 3-0 in Elbasan on 30 July through Vila, Qefalija and Përndreca, for a 4-1 aggregate.
The tie they are in now is the Conference League third qualifying round, main path, against Auda of Latvia. The first leg was played early, on 4 August 2026 at the Skonto Stadium in Riga, where Auda also play their home matches because their own ground at Ķekava does not meet UEFA requirements.
