East Kilbride
The club
East Kilbride were founded in May 2010, which makes them by some distance the youngest club in the Scottish Professional Football League. They play at K-Park Training Academy in East Kilbride, a ground holding 700, of which 400 are seated. They are known as Kilby, or simply EK, and play in white with navy trim, with red as the change strip.
The club's own website could not be reached from here: both eastkilbridefc.co.uk and ekfc.co.uk refused the connection, and the SPFL club pages returned 403. Everything below comes from Wikipedia and from the SPFL and League Cup competition records.
Recent seasons
The rise has been quick and almost entirely upward. East Kilbride began in the Scottish Amateur Football League, winning Division 2 in 2011/12 and Division 1 in 2012/13 before joining the Lowland League. They finished second in the Lowland League in 2020/21, fourth in 2021/22 and sixth in 2022/23, then won the title in 2023/24 and again in 2024/25.
The 2023/24 title did not get them up. In the pyramid play-off they beat the Highland League champions but lost the final to Stranraer, drawing the first leg 2-2 and losing the second 3-1 after extra time, 5-3 on aggregate. They went back and did it again the following year. In 2024/25 they beat Brora Rangers 7-4 on aggregate in the pyramid semi-final, 4-1 at home and 3-3 away, then beat Bonnyrigg Rose 3-1 at K-Park and drew 0-0 away for a 3-1 aggregate win and a place in League Two.
Their first season in the SPFL was their best. East Kilbride won League Two in 2025/26 with 69 points, five clear of The Spartans, and go into 2026/27 in League One.
Honours and landmarks
League Two champions in 2025/26 and Lowland League champions four times, in 2016/17, 2018/19, 2023/24 and 2024/25. They have won the SFA South Region Challenge Cup four times, in 2013/14, 2016/17, 2018/19 and 2023/24, and the Lowland League Cup five times, in 2014/15, 2015/16, 2021/22, 2022/23 and 2024/25. Also the East of Scotland Qualifying Cup in 2015/16 and 2017/18 and the East of Scotland City Cup in 2015/16, plus the two amateur league titles of 2011/12 and 2012/13.
The landmark a writer will want is the winning run of 2016. On 5 November 2016 East Kilbride beat BSC Glasgow 3-1 for a 27th consecutive victory, passing Ajax's record of 26 straight wins. The run reached 30 before a 1-0 defeat to The Spartans on 19 November 2016 ended it. The club's other distinction from that period is a Scottish Cup fifth-round tie against Celtic in 2015/16.
Record attendance, record win and record defeat are not published anywhere that could be found. For a club sixteen years old, playing at a 700-capacity ground, that is not surprising, but it means those lines are simply not available.
Head-to-head notes
East Kilbride have no meaningful all-time records against their 2026/27 League One opponents, and none are published. Their only SPFL season, 2025/26, was spent in League Two, and none of the nine clubs they will meet this season were in that division. The one competitive meeting that could be established is against Cove Rangers, who beat them 3-2 on 14 July 2026 in the Premier Sports Cup group stage. Against Airdrieonians, Alloa Athletic, East Fife, Hamilton Academical, Montrose, Peterhead, Queen of the South and Ross County, no record could be established at all. East Fife's own all-time record archive does not list East Kilbride as an opponent, which suggests the two have never met.
Right now (2026/27)
Mick Kennedy has been manager since 22 April 2023 and took the club up from the Lowland League and then out of League Two in successive seasons.
Summer transfer business could not be established, because the club website was unreachable and no other accessible source carried the 2026 window. A reviewer should fill this section in from the club directly.
The Premier Sports Cup went well without going far enough. In Group C East Kilbride beat Dunfermline Athletic 3-0 at K-Park on 11 July, the standout result of their summer against a side that reached last season's Scottish Cup final. They then lost 3-2 at Cove Rangers on 14 July, beat Dumbarton 5-3 at home on 18 July and lost 4-3 at St Mirren on 21 July. Six points left them third in the group behind St Mirren and Dunfermline, who both finished on nine and both went through. Three of the four games produced five goals or more.
The first League One fixture of the season could not be established from the sources accessible; the division starts on 1 August 2026.
