Europa FC
The club
Europa FC were founded in 1925 in Gibraltar and are one of the territory's two leading clubs alongside Lincoln Red Imps, who are also covered in this corpus. Europa FC are not Lincoln Red Imps: the Red Imps were formed separately in 1976 out of a police youth team and players released by Glacis United and St Jago's, play in red, and are Gibraltar's most decorated club internationally, most famous for beating Celtic in Champions League qualifying. Europa FC play in white with green trim at home and black away, and have their own distinct and much older history, including a long spell out of existence under a different name. The club stopped operating as Europa FC in 1970 when it merged with College, playing on as College Cosmos until 2013; it split away again in 2015 and reverted to the Europa FC name, at which point UEFA and the Gibraltar Football Association restored its historical honours to it. The precise year of that 1970s merger and the exact structure of the College Cosmos years were not confirmed beyond this account in the sources read here.
The home ground is the Victoria Stadium in Gibraltar, capacity 2,000, shared with other Gibraltarian clubs including Lincoln Red Imps. The current head coach is the Italian Michele Di Piedi.
