The club
FC Atert Bissen trace their origins to 1917, when the club was founded as FC Jeunesse Bissen in the small town of Bissen in Luxembourg's Mersch canton, on the river after which the club is now named. That original club dissolved in 1923. It was re-founded as Red Star Bissen, which itself dissolved in 1934, then reformed again as FC 42 Bissen, before the club took its current name, FC Atert Bissen, on 2 June 1946.
