Feyenoord
The club
Feyenoord were founded in Rotterdam on 19 July 1908 as Wilhelmina, and after several changes of name have been Feyenoord Rotterdam since 1978. They play in red and white shirts split down the middle, with black shorts and black socks. They are not to be confused with SC Feyenoord, the separate amateur football organisation formed in 1978 when the club's professional and amateur divisions split — the amateur namesake is NOT the Eredivisie club this dossier covers.
The ground is De Kuip, formally the Stadion Feijenoord, opened in 1937, with a capacity of 47,500. Plans for a new stadium have been mentioned, but details were not established from the sources read here.
The head coach is Giovanni van Bronckhorst, the Rotterdam-born former club captain, appointed on 17 June 2026 on a two-year contract with an option for a further year. He returns to a job he held from 2015 to 2019, when he led the club to the 2016/17 Eredivisie title, their first in eighteen years. He replaces Robin van Persie, who had been in charge from 24 February 2025 until the club parted ways with him on 7 June 2026; van Persie had himself followed Brian Priske, dismissed on 10 February 2025, with Pascal Bosschaart holding the reins as interim for two weeks in between.
Recent seasons
Under Arne Slot in 2023/24 Feyenoord finished second in the Eredivisie with 84 points from 26 wins, 6 draws and 2 defeats, scoring 92 and conceding 26, and won the KNVB Cup with five wins from five matches. In 2024/25 they finished third on 68 points, 20 wins, 8 draws and 6 defeats, 76 scored and 38 conceded, with Igor Paixão their top scorer on 16 league goals, and they took the Johan Cruyff Shield at the start of the season, beating PSV Eindhoven on penalties after a 4-4 draw. In 2025/26, van Persie's one full season, they were second again but a long way back: 65 points from 34 matches, 19 wins, 8 draws and 7 defeats, 70 goals scored and 44 conceded, nineteen points behind champions PSV Eindhoven on 84. Ayase Ueda was the division's outstanding forward for them with 25 league goals, 26 in all competitions. The 2025/26 KNVB Cup ended abruptly, a 3-2 defeat in the second round, their only match in the competition.
Honours and landmarks
Feyenoord have won the Dutch championship sixteen times: 1924, 1928, 1936, 1938, 1940, 1961, 1962, 1965, 1969, 1971, 1974, 1984, 1993, 1999, 2017 and 2023. They have won the KNVB Cup fourteen times, most recently in 2023/24.
In 1970 they became the first Dutch club to win the European Cup, beating Celtic 2-1 after extra time at the San Siro in Milan, Ove Kindvall scoring the winner three minutes from the end, and later that year the first Dutch club to win the Intercontinental Cup, drawing 2-2 with Estudiantes in Buenos Aires and winning the return 1-0 in Rotterdam. In 1974 they became the first Dutch team to win the UEFA Cup, beating Tottenham Hotspur 4-2 on aggregate, 2-2 in London and 2-0 at home. They won it again in 2002, beating Borussia Dortmund 3-2 in a final staged at their own De Kuip, Jon Dahl Tomasson scoring the goal that made it 3-1 — still, per the sources read here, the last time a Dutch team won a major European trophy.

European record
The trophies are set out above: the European Cup and Intercontinental Cup in 1970, the UEFA Cup in 1974 and 2002. A full season-by-season European record was not established from the sources read here, but the recent campaigns run as follows.
In 2023/24 Feyenoord went out of the Champions League at the group stage with two wins and four defeats. In 2024/25 they went much further: 5 wins, 2 draws and 5 defeats across twelve Champions League matches in the new format, coming through the league phase, then beating AC Milan 2-1 on aggregate in the knockout-phase play-off — Igor Paixão scoring after three minutes in a 1-0 first-leg win at De Kuip on 12 February 2025, and Julián Carranza equalising in a 1-1 draw at the San Siro on 18 February after Santiago Giménez, sold to Milan weeks earlier, had scored against his old club inside a minute. Internazionale ended the run in the round of sixteen, going through 4-1 on aggregate in March 2025.
In 2025/26 Feyenoord fell out of the Champions League at the third qualifying round, one win and one defeat, and dropped into the Europa League, where the league phase went badly: two wins and six defeats from eight matches.
