FC Flora
Also written as Flora, Flora Tallinn.
The club
FC Flora, usually written Flora Tallinn, were founded on 10 March 1990 by Aivar Pohlak, an attempt to revive Estonian football as the Soviet Union came apart. The team was built largely on players from the Lõvid youth side. Flora were founding members of the Meistriliiga in 1992 and are one of only two clubs, with Narva Trans, never to have been relegated from it.
The home ground is the Lilleküla Stadium, also known as the A. Le Coq Arena, which opened in 2001 and was expanded between 2016 and 2018 to 14,336 seats. It is the largest football stadium in Estonia. In winter and early spring Flora use the neighbouring Sportland Arena artificial pitch. The nickname is Rohevalged, the Green-Whites, and the colours are green and white, chosen to stand for growth, purity and honesty. The crest carries the goddess Flora, after whom the club is named, and since 2024 three stars.
Flora's transfer policy is unusual and deliberate: the club signs only native Estonians or players holding Estonian citizenship. The president is Pelle Pohlak, son of the founder, and the head coach is Konstantin Vassiljev, a former Estonia international who retired as a player and took the job for the 2025 season.
Recent seasons
Flora were runners-up in 2021, then champions in 2022 with 97 points, equalling Levadia's 2009 record for points in a Meistriliiga season. They won a fifteenth title in 2023, the last under Jürgen Henn, who stepped down on 30 November 2023 after six years, the longest and most successful managerial tenure in the club's history.
2024 was poor by Flora's standards: fourth, their first finish outside the top three in eight years. Norbert Hurt resigned in July 2024 after a 5-0 home defeat in the Champions League first qualifying round and Taavi Viik took over. Vassiljev was appointed for 2025 and won the title in his first season, 82 points from 36 matches, 26 wins, 4 draws and 6 defeats, 84 goals scored and 31 conceded, one point ahead of FCI Levadia.
In 2026 Flora are third. As of 9 August 2026 they had played 20 matches for 13 wins, no draws and 7 defeats, 39 points, 40 goals scored and 21 conceded, behind FCI Levadia and Nõmme Kalju. Not drawing a single league match in twenty is the striking figure.
Honours and landmarks
Sixteen Meistriliiga titles, a record: 1993-94, 1994-95, 1997-98, 1998, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2010, 2011, 2015, 2017, 2019, 2020, 2022, 2023 and 2025. Nine Estonian Cups, most recently 2025-26. Twelve Estonian Supercups, also a record. Thirty-seven trophies in all, more than any other Estonian club.
The landmark that matters most is 26 August 2021, when Flora beat Shamrock Rovers 5-2 on aggregate to become the first Estonian club to reach the group stage of a UEFA competition.
Notable scorelines
Flora's heaviest European defeat is 10-1 on aggregate to Partizan in the 1999/2000 Champions League first qualifying round, 4-1 at home and 6-0 in Belgrade. They also lost 6-0 on aggregate to Odense on their European debut in 1994-95, beaten 3-0 in each leg, and 6-0 at home to Esbjerg in the first leg of a 2005/06 UEFA Cup tie, before winning the second leg 2-1. Their biggest domestic defeat is 6-0 to TVMK in 2007. In 2003 Flora won the league without losing a single match and extended an unbeaten run from the previous season to 37 games, with Tor Henning Hamre scoring a record 39 goals.
European record
Flora made their European debut in the 1994-95 UEFA Cup and spent two decades going out in the qualifying rounds, with occasional bright spots: a 3-1 home win over Steaua Bucuresti in the 1998/99 Champions League that was not quite enough at 5-4 on aggregate, and passage past Lyn Oslo on away goals in 2006/07.
The Jürgen Henn years produced the club's best European football. In 2019/20 Flora beat Radnicki Nis 4-2 and then took Eintracht Frankfurt to two 2-1 defeats, the home leg drawing a record 8,537 to Tallinn and the away leg played in front of 48,000 at a sold-out Waldstadion, where the Frankfurt supporters applauded the Estonians off. In 2020/21 they reached the Europa League play-off round, losing 3-1 to Dinamo Zagreb.
The high point is 2021/22. Flora beat Shamrock Rovers 5-2 to reach the Europa Conference League group stage, drawn with Gent, Partizan and Anorthosis Famagusta. A 2-2 draw in Cyprus, Rauno Sappinen scoring twice from 2-0 down, was the first point an Estonian club had won in a UEFA group stage. On matchday five Flora beat Partizan 1-0 in Tallinn through Martin Miller, the first win. They finished fourth in the group.
Since then it has been harder. Farul Constanta won 5-0 on aggregate in 2023/24, Celje 7-1 in 2024/25, and Víkingur Reykjavík knocked them out 3-2 in the Conference League third qualifying round that year. In 2025/26 Flora went out in the first qualifying round to Valur of Iceland, 5-1 on aggregate.

Right now (2026/27)
Konstantin Vassiljev is the head coach and Flora entered Europe as Estonian champions. It has not gone well.
In the Champions League first qualifying round Flora lost 3-2 at home to Iberia 1999 of Georgia and drew 2-2 away, out 5-4 on aggregate. Dropping into the Conference League, they beat The New Saints in the second qualifying round the hard way: 1-0 at home, 1-0 down after extra time in Wales, and through 4-2 on penalties after a 1-1 aggregate.
The tie they are in now is the Conference League third qualifying round against Inter Club d'Escaldes of Andorra, and Flora lost the first leg 2-0 at the Estadi Nacional in Andorra la Vella on 6 August 2026 in front of 350 people. Faysal Chouaib scored after five minutes when Kolobov could not deal with a cross, and Domi Berlanga added a second on 62 minutes from a rebound. Flora had two shots to Inter's thirteen by half time. The referee was Stefan Ebner of Austria.
The second leg is at the Lilleküla Stadium on 13 August 2026, referee Pavle Ilic of Serbia. Flora need to overturn two goals against an Andorran champion side to reach the play-off round, where the opponent would be the winner of Tre Fiori against Drita. Losing to an Andorran club would be among the worst results in the club's European history.
Summer transfer business at Flora was not established from the sources read here and no signings or departures are claimed.
