FC Inter Turku
Also written as Inter Turku.
The club
FC Inter Turku were founded in 1990 by Stefan Hakans, initially as a youth club, and entered senior competition in 1992 before working their way up the Finnish divisions. They play at the Veritas Stadion in the Kupittaa district of Turku, capacity 9,372. The home kit is blue and black stripes, the change kit white. They are known as Sinimustat, the Blue and Blacks, and as Hinaajat, the Tugboats, a nod to Turku's shipyards.
Recent seasons
Inter finished second in the Veikkausliiga in 2020, third in 2021, fifth in 2022, sixth in 2023 and seventh in 2024, then recovered sharply to finish second in 2025. That runners-up finish is what put them into European qualifying this summer.
The 2026 Veikkausliiga is a summer league and is in progress. On the standings read here in August 2026, Inter were second with 31 points from 16 matches, 8 wins, 7 draws and a single defeat, 23 scored and 12 conceded, two points behind the defending champions KuPS. That is a snapshot rather than a final position. Their most recent league match before the European tie's second leg was a goalless home draw with FC Lahti on 9 August 2026.
Honours and landmarks
Inter have won the Veikkausliiga once, in 2008. They have won the Finnish Cup twice, in 2009 and 2017/18, and the Finnish League Cup four times, in 2008, 2024, 2025 and 2026.
Notable scorelines
No reliable published record win or record defeat was confirmed from the sources read here, and none is invented. The scoreline that matters most in the club's modern European history is the 2-1 home win over FK Sarajevo on 16 July 2026, which completed Inter's first European tie win in twenty-one years.
European record
This is a club with very little European history and it is important not to overstate it. Before this summer, Inter's only tie victory in European competition had come against IA Akranes in the 2005 UEFA Intertoto Cup. Everything since had ended at the first attempt.
That changed in 2026/27. In the first qualifying round of the Conference League they drew 1-1 away at FK Sarajevo on 9 July 2026, then won the return 2-1 at the Veritas Stadion on 16 July. Sarajevo led through Francis Kyeremeh; Alie Conteh equalised on 58 minutes and Clinton Jephta won it on 87, set up by Prosper Ahiabu. Inter went through 3-2 on aggregate.
The second qualifying round produced the biggest result in the club's history. Drawn against Istanbul Basaksehir, Inter drew 1-1 in Istanbul on 22 July 2026, Jephta putting them ahead after 16 minutes and Emin Bayram equalising nine minutes into the second half, then won the return 2-0 in Turku on 30 July to go through 3-1 on aggregate and knock a Turkish Super Lig side out of Europe.
Quotes
No directly quoted material was confirmed from the sources read here. Finnish-language post-match reaction from the head coach exists but could not be reproduced verbatim from a page that was successfully read, so none is offered.
Right now (2026/27)
Vesa Vasara is the head coach. A dated list of summer transfers in and out was not established from the sources read here and is not guessed at. Clinton Jephta, Alie Conteh and Prosper Ahiabu have been the decisive attacking figures in Europe.
Inter are second in the Veikkausliiga and, having beaten Sarajevo and Basaksehir, are in the third qualifying round of the Conference League against FC Vaduz of Liechtenstein. The first leg was at the Veritas Stadion on 6 August 2026 and Inter won it 2-1. Julian Stark put through his own goal on 22 minutes to give Inter the lead, Sorgic equalised for Vaduz on 63, and Deyegbe restored the lead on 68. Inter take a one-goal advantage to the Rheinpark Stadion for the return on 13 August 2026. The club is streaming the second leg to supporters at home for ten euros, and described the week of the return leg and the accompanying league fixture as one of enormous stakes.
