The club
The New England Revolution were founded in 1995 and are one of the ten charter clubs of Major League Soccer, having competed in the league since its inaugural season in 1996. They play out of Foxborough, Massachusetts, representing the Greater Boston area, and are owned by the Kraft family, who also own the NFL's New England Patriots.
The club's home is Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, shared with the Patriots, with a capacity of 20,000 for soccer configuration. Before Gillette Stadium opened, the Revolution played at Foxboro Stadium from 1996 to 2001, since demolished. The current head coach is Marko Mitrović, appointed on 7 November 2025.
New England Revolution should not be confused with any other club of a similar name; there is no closely confusable rival organisation, and the club is clearly distinguished by its Greater Boston base and MLS membership from any other "Revolution"-named side.
Recent seasons
The Revolution won their first Supporters' Shield in 2021 under head coach Bruce Arena, finishing the regular season with a then-record 73 points from 22 wins, 7 draws and 5 losses, scoring 65 goals and conceding 41 for a goal difference of plus 24. Honours and landmarks
The Revolution have won one Supporters' Shield, in 2021, and one major domestic cup, the 2007 US Open Cup, beating FC Dallas 3-2 in the final for what was the club's first-ever trophy. They reached a second US Open Cup final in 2016, losing 4-2 to FC Dallas, and an earlier one in 2001, losing to the LA Galaxy; they also reached the Open Cup semi-final in 2008.
The club has never won MLS Cup despite reaching the final five times: beaten 1-0 by the LA Galaxy on a golden goal from Carlos Ruiz in 2002, beaten 1-0 after extra time by the LA Galaxy again in 2005, beaten by the Houston Dynamo on penalties after a 1-1 draw in 2006, beaten 2-1 by the Houston Dynamo in 2007, and beaten 2-1 by the LA Galaxy for a third time in 2014. Five final defeats without a win is a distinctive, unwanted record in MLS history.
