The club
Nes Sóknar Ítróttarfelag Runavík, known as NSÍ, is a Faroese club from Runavík on the island of Eysturoy, founded on 24 March 1957. Their ground, Við Løkin, holds 2,000 and is not approved by UEFA, so European home matches are played elsewhere: historically at Tórsvøllur in Tórshavn or Svangaskarð in Toftir, and in 2026-27 at Við Djúpumýrar in Klaksvík. The club plays in yellow and black. The chairman is Karstin Joensen. The main sponsor is Navigare, based in Runavík near Bakkafrost, the largest salmon-farming company in the Faroe Islands.
The manager is the Icelander Sigurður Ragnar Eyjólfsson, appointed on 1 January 2026, succeeding the Swede Jens Wedeborg who had held the job for the two previous seasons. Klæmint Andrasson Olsen has scored 263 goals for the club, 231 of them in the top division. Petur Knudsen, Michał Przybylski and Klæmint Olsen have all scored in this season's European run.

The history is one of first-round exits. They lost 9-1 on aggregate to Lyn in the 2003-04 UEFA Cup, 7-1 to Esbjerg in the 2004 Intertoto Cup, and 6-0 to Liepājas Metalurgs in 2005-06. Their one genuine near-miss came in the 2008-09 Champions League first qualifying round, when they beat Dinamo Tbilisi 1-0 at home and lost 3-0 away. They drew 0-0 with Fulham in Runavík in 2011-12 and lost the return 3-0. In 2015-16 they beat Linfield 4-3 at home and lost 2-0 in Belfast, going out 5-4. In 2021-22 they lost 3-1 on aggregate to Honka. In 2025-26 they beat HJK 4-0 at home in the first qualifying round and then lost 5-0 after extra time in Helsinki, going out 5-4.

They drew the first leg 1-1 at Klaksvík on 9 July 2026, Petur Knudsen scoring on 26 minutes and Tobias Bjørnstad equalising on 56, then won 2-1 at the Centenary Stadium in Ta' Qali on 16 July through Przybylski on 43 minutes and a Knudsen penalty in the fourth minute of stoppage time, after Ante Ćorić had levelled on 53.

In the return at the Bonifika Stadium on 30 July NSÍ overturned it: Beinir Nolsøe scored on 35 minutes, Marius Kryger Lindh on 70, Bassirou N'Diaye put Koper level on aggregate from a penalty on 102, and Przybylski scored in the 122nd minute to make it 3-1 on the night and 3-3 overall. NSÍ then won the shootout 4-3, Knudsen and Davidsen missing for the Faroese and Josip Iličić, Álvaro Roncal and Filip Damjanović missing for Koper, with Benjaminsen, Elísson, Klæmint Olsen and Daniel Obbekjær scoring.
The tie they are in now is the Conference League third qualifying round, main path, against Lugano of Switzerland. Lugano won the first leg 2-0 at the Cornaredo Stadium on 6 August 2026, Elias Pihlström scoring on seven minutes and Kevin Behrens on 79.
