OFK Petrovac
Also written as Petrovac.
The club
Omladinski fudbalski klub Petrovac were founded in 1969 as FK Nafta, in the coastal town of Petrovac na Moru, part of the Budva municipality on Montenegro's Adriatic coast. The club is nicknamed Nebesko plavi, "the Sky-Blues", and plays in white shirts, shorts and socks at home, with a dark navy or charcoal change strip.
OFK Petrovac is not to be confused with any other Montenegrin club: not Buducnost Podgorica, not Sutjeska Niksic, and not Zeta Golubovci, all of whom play in different Montenegrin towns with different histories. It is also, critically, a completely different club from FK Mladost Petrovac na Mlavi, which plays in the town of Petrovac na Mlavi in eastern Serbia. The shared "Petrovac" name is a coincidence of Balkan place-naming — the Montenegrin club is rooted in the seaside resort of Petrovac na Moru, near Budva, and has no connection to the Serbian town or its football club.
The club's early seasons were spent in the Fourth League - South tier, and a runner-up finish in that competition in 1971-72 brought promotion to the Montenegrin Republic League. From 1972 until the turn of the century the club moved between divisions of the Montenegrin Republic League, with occasional relegations and returns. A second-place finish in the Montenegrin Republic League in 2000-01 earned promotion to the Yugoslav Second League, where the club stayed for five seasons until the State Union of Serbia and Montenegro dissolved. OFK Petrovac was one of twelve clubs selected for the inaugural 2006-07 Montenegrin First League season and has remained in the top flight, without relegation, in every season since.
Home matches are played at the Stadion Mitar Mico Golis, a two-stand, all-seated ground close to the Adriatic coast with a capacity of 1,630 and floodlights; the ground was reconstructed in 2013 to UEFA eligibility standards. The chairman is Balsa Mitrovic and the head coach is Zdravko Dragicevic, though the exact dates of Dragicevic's appointment were not established from the sources read here.
Recent seasons
OFK Petrovac finished seventh in the Montenegrin First League in 2021-22 (36 games, 10 wins, 13 draws, 13 defeats, 47 scored, 60 conceded), sixth in 2022-23 (11 wins, 12 draws, 13 defeats, 50 scored, 57 conceded) and sixth again in 2023-24 (11 wins, 15 draws, 10 defeats, 42 scored, 40 conceded). The club's best-ever league campaign followed in 2024-25: second place, 17 wins, 9 draws and 10 defeats from 36 matches, 50 goals scored and 37 conceded, the closest OFK Petrovac has come to a Montenegrin First League title. In 2025-26 they finished third, with 13 wins, 12 draws and 11 defeats, 44 scored and 36 conceded.
Honours and landmarks
OFK Petrovac's one major trophy is the Montenegrin Cup, won in 2008-09 with a 1-0 extra-time win over FK Lovcen in the final in Podgorica. That win carried the club into the 2009-10 UEFA Europa League, its only European qualifying campaign under the Europa League format prior to the Conference League era. The club reached a second Montenegrin Cup final in 2014-15, losing 2-1 after extra time to FK Mladost Podgorica. Domestically, the club has never won the Montenegrin First League; its best league finish is the runner-up spot taken in 2024-25, with fifth-place finishes in 2011-12 and 2013-14 standing as its best results before that season. Any honours from the pre-independence Yugoslav or Montenegrin Republic League era beyond the promotions already noted were not established from the sources read here.
Notable scorelines
In the 2009-10 UEFA Europa League second qualifying round, OFK Petrovac eliminated Anorthosis Famagusta of Cyprus on a 4-3 aggregate score. They were then beaten 7-1 on aggregate by Sturm Graz of Austria in the third qualifying round. Individual leg scores for either of those ties, and any notable heavy domestic scorelines, were not established from the sources read here.
European record
OFK Petrovac has appeared in UEFA competition twice. The 2009-10 UEFA Europa League run, earned via the 2008-09 Montenegrin Cup, saw the club beat Anorthosis Famagusta 4-3 on aggregate in the second qualifying round before losing 7-1 on aggregate to Sturm Graz in the third qualifying round. The club then went without European football for over a decade and a half until 2026-27, when it entered the UEFA Conference League qualifying first round and was eliminated by FK Zalgiris of Lithuania on a 5-2 aggregate score. Individual leg scores, dates and venues for the Zalgiris tie were not established from the sources read here.
