The club
Orlando City SC were founded in 2010 by Phil Rawlins, a board member of Stoke City, who acquired USL franchise rights and relocated the Austin Aztex organisation to Orlando, unveiling the Orlando City name at a press conference in October 2010. The club is not Orlando Pride, the National Women's Soccer League side that shares the same ownership group, the Wilf family, and plays home matches at the same stadium; Orlando Pride is a separate club in a separate league, not a section of Orlando City SC.
Orlando City spent four seasons in USL Pro before joining Major League Soccer. They won the USL Pro regular season title, the Commissioner's Cup, in 2011 with 51 points topping the American Division, and won the USL Pro championship itself twice, beating Harrisburg City Islanders on penalties after a 2-2 draw in 2011 and beating Charlotte Eagles 7-4 in the 2013 final. They took the Commissioner's Cup again in 2012 and 2014.
The club joined MLS as an expansion franchise in 2015 alongside New York City FC. Their first MLS match was at the Citrus Bowl on 8 March 2015 against that same NYCFC side, in front of 62,510, and finished 1-1 after Kaká scored in stoppage time. Orlando played at the Citrus Bowl, later renamed Camping World Stadium, through the 2016 season before moving into their own downtown ground.
That ground opened on 5 March 2017 as Orlando City Stadium, with Cyle Larin scoring the first goal in stadium history in a 1-0 win over New York City FC in front of a sellout 25,550. It cost around 155 million dollars to build in the Parramore neighbourhood west of downtown Orlando, at 655 West Church Street, and has a capacity of 24,453. It was renamed Exploria Stadium from 4 June 2019, then Inter&Co Stadium from 18 January 2024 after the Brazilian digital bank Inter&Co took up naming rights, and was renamed again to Inter.co Stadium on 23 July 2026.
The head coach for 2026 is Martín Perelman, promoted from assistant coach on an interim basis after Óscar Pareja and the club agreed to terminate his contract on 11 March 2026.
Recent seasons
Orlando made the playoffs in 2021 and 2022 but were eliminated in the first round both times, by Nashville SC and CF Montréal respectively. In 2023 they finished second overall and second in the Eastern Conference with 63 points, the club's highest points total and best placement in both tables to that point, before losing in the conference semi-finals to Columbus Crew. In 2024 they finished fourth in the Eastern Conference, scoring 59 goals in the regular season for a club record, and reached the Eastern Conference final, their furthest playoff run to date, before losing to New York Red Bulls. In 2025 they scored 63 goals, their most prolific regular season on record, but placed ninth in the Eastern Conference and had to go through the wild card round, losing 3-1 to Chicago Fire.
Honours and landmarks
Orlando City's first and, to date, only major trophy came in the US Open Cup: they beat USL Championship side Sacramento Republic FC 3-0 in the final on 7 September 2022, a result that also qualified them for the 2023 CONCACAF Champions League. The club's marquee signing was the Brazilian World Cup winner Kaká, signed as Orlando's first Major League Soccer contract player in June 2014 following his release from AC Milan; he became the club's first Designated Player and its captain. Kaká scored Orlando's equaliser in that first MLS match in March 2015 and remained the face of the club through the 2017 season, after which he announced his retirement rather than returning for 2018.

Among Orlando's heaviest defeats in the 2026 MLS season are a 0-5 loss away to New York City FC on 7 March, a 0-5 loss away to Nashville on 21 March, and a 0-6 loss away to LAFC on 4 April, results that came during the three-game losing start to the season under Óscar Pareja before his dismissal. On the other side of the ledger, Orlando won 4-3 away to Inter Miami on 2 May 2026 and 4-3 at home to Philadelphia on 13 May 2026, and beat San Jose 4-0 away on 22 July 2026. The club made a marquee signing of its own in 2026, adding the French forward Antoine Griezmann as a Designated Player from Atlético Madrid once the mid-season transfer window opened on 13 July, only the second FIFA World Cup winner to join Orlando after Kaká. Goalkeeper Maxime Crépeau also arrived from Portland Timbers during the year.
As of 23 August 2026, Orlando sit ninth in the Eastern Conference and 22nd overall in MLS with a record of seven wins, eleven losses and three draws for 24 points, having scored 34 goals and conceded 51. The club advanced to the Leagues Cup group phase but was eliminated on 12 August 2026, and reached the semi-finals of the 2026 US Open Cup.
