The club

Paksi FC were founded on 28 November 1952 as Pakski Sportegyesület, in the Hungarian town of Paks on the Danube, though organised football in the town dates back to a student team in 1912 and the Pakski Atlétikai Sport Club that followed it; the club played at county level from 1954 to 1964 before working through the lower national divisions. Paks reached the Nemzeti Bajnokság I, the Hungarian top flight, for the first time in 2006, after winning NB II in 2005/06. Paks are not Ferencváros, the record Hungarian champions covered elsewhere in this corpus; the two clubs are rivals in recent seasons, having met in consecutive Magyar Kupa finals, but are separate organisations with Paks never having won the league title Ferencváros has won so often.

The club plays at the Fehérvári úti Stadion; the sources read here gave two different capacities for the ground, 5,001 in one part of the same article and 6,150 in another, so the figure was not established with confidence. Paks are nicknamed Atomcsapat, "the Nuclear Team", a direct reference to the Paks Nuclear Power Plant, Hungary's only nuclear power station, located in the town; no formal sponsorship arrangement between the club and the plant's operator beyond that nickname was established from the sources read here. Recent seasons

Paks finished sixth in the Nemzeti Bajnokság I in 2021/22 with 43 points, fifth in 2022/23 with 49, and runners-up in 2023/24 with 58 points, 17 wins, 7 draws and 9 defeats. In 2024/25 they were third with 57 points from 33 matches, Dániel Böde their leading scorer with 15 league goals and 19 in all competitions, and in 2025/26 they were third again, 53 points from 33 matches with a goal difference of plus 17. Ferencváros won the title in each of those seasons except 2025/26, when ETO FC Győr took their fifth championship.

Honours and landmarks

Paks have never won the Nemzeti Bajnokság I, finishing runners-up in 2010/11 and 2023/24 and third in 2024/25. They won the Nemzeti Bajnokság II in 2005/06 and the Nemzeti Bajnokság III four times, in 1988/89, 1989/90, 1990/91 and 2010/11. Their major landmark is the Magyar Kupa, the Hungarian Cup, which they won for the first time in 2023/24, beating Ferencváros 2-0 in the final, and again in 2024/25, drawing 1-1 with Ferencváros after extra time and winning 4-3 on penalties; they had been runners-up in 2021/22. Paks also won the Ligakupa, the League Cup, in 2010/11, and the Szabadföld Kupa in 1976, winning 4-2. In their 2024/25 Europa League first qualifying round tie with Corvinul Hunedoara of Romania, Paks lost the home leg 0-4, described in the source as their biggest defeat of that campaign, before winning the away leg 2-0 and going out 2-4 on aggregate.
