The club
FK Sileks are a football club based in Kratovo, a small town in eastern North Macedonia, founded in 1965 during the Yugoslav era. The club takes its name from the nearby Sileks lead and zinc mine, which backed the team financially in its early years. Sileks were one of the founding members of the independent Macedonian First Football League when it was established in 1992, and the town's supporters, organised as a group from 1997, are known as Krateri. The home ground is the City Stadium Sileks in Kratovo, capacity 1,800. The club plays in red and white stripes at home and white for away matches.
Sileks are not to be confused with the much larger and better-known Macedonian clubs FK Vardar of Skopje or FK Rabotnicki, nor with any other body carrying the Sileks name; the football club is the only prominent organisation of that name in North Macedonian sport, distinct from the mining company it was named after.
