The club
Twente were formed on 1 July 1965 from the merger of Sportclub Enschede and Enschedese Boys, and represent the Twente region of the eastern Netherlands rather than the city of Enschede alone. They play at De Grolsch Veste, capacity 30,205. They are De Tukkers, after the regional demonym, and Trots van het Oosten, the Pride of the East. The club colours are red and black, and the side is often called De Roodhemden, the Red Shirts.
Recent seasons
Twente finished tenth in the Eredivisie in 2020/21, fourth in 2021/22, fifth in 2022/23, third in 2023/24, sixth in 2024/25 and fourth in 2025/26 with 58 points from 15 wins, 13 draws and 6 defeats, 59 goals scored and 40 conceded. Only PSV lost fewer than six matches all season; the thirteen draws are what kept Twente off the podium.

Eredivisie champions once, in 2009/10. KNVB Cup winners three times, in 1976/77, 2000/01 and 2010/11. Johan Cruyff Shield winners in 2010 and 2011. Eerste Divisie champions in 2018/19, the season after relegation.

The scoreline the club is remembered for outside the Netherlands is the 1975 UEFA Cup final against Borussia Monchengladbach: a 0-0 draw away in the first leg, and then 1-5 at home in the second, having eliminated Juventus on the way there. European record

John van den Brom has been head coach since 15 September 2025 and extended his contract to mid-2027 on 27 March 2026. Erik ten Hag is the technical director.
