Macclesfield FC
The club
Macclesfield Football Club, nicknamed the Silkmen, are a club from Macclesfield, Cheshire, England. This is not Macclesfield Town, the club founded in 1874 that was wound up after a High Court ruling in September 2020 over debts above 500,000 pounds. Macclesfield Football Club was founded on 6 October 2020 as a phoenix club after Robert Smethurst bought the stadium and assets that October, to return senior football to the town. It also should not be confused with any earlier Macclesfield side.
They play at the Moss Rose, known for sponsorship as the Leasing.com Stadium, with a capacity of 5,350 of which 2,095 are seats. The ground has hosted football in Macclesfield since 1891. The club's playing colours were not established from the sources read here, as Wikipedia shows the kits only as images. The 2026-27 home kit is made by DNA, the shirt sponsor.
John Rooney has been manager since 1 July 2025, replacing Robbie Savage, who left for Forest Green Rovers. Francis Jeffers is assistant manager.
