The club
Scunthorpe United Football Club, nicknamed the Iron, are a club from Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire, England. The club is not Scunthorpe & Lindsey United, which was the same club's name from 1910 to 1958, and is not North Lindsey United, the club it merged with. Wikipedia gives the formation as 1899. The merger with North Lindsey United in 1910 produced Scunthorpe & Lindsey United, who joined the Midland League in 1912 and were elected to the Football League in 1950; "& Lindsey" was dropped in 1958. In the early twentieth century the club was also called the Nuts.
They play at Glanford Park, opened in 1988 when the club left the Old Show Ground, with a capacity of 9,088. It has been known as the Attis Arena for sponsorship since January 2024, and the club bought the stadium back in late 2023 after a long property dispute. The colours have been claret and blue for most of the club's history. Wikipedia lists Jacob Butterfield and Ross Barrows (interim) as managers and Michelle Harness as chairwoman; whether Butterfield remains in charge was not established from the sources read here.
