Scottish Championship REVIEW 15 Sep 2026: Kargbo settles repeat of summer's shootout as Stenhousemuir beat Partick Thistle

Stenhousemuir beat Partick Thistle 1-0 at Ochilview, a repeat, in the league this time, of a Premier Sports Cup group match the two sides played at Firhill on 21 July, which finished 2-2 before Stenhousemuir won the shootout 5-3. Hamzad Kargbo settled this meeting with a 76th-minute goal, turning in a pass from Ross Meechan.

The afternoon produced five yellow cards without a sending-off: Ross Meechan (40th minute) and Sam Young (54th) for the home side, Daniel O'Reilly (56th) and Ben McPherson (57th) for Partick within a minute of each other, and Michael Anderson (70th) for Stenhousemuir.

Our model had Stenhousemuir as favourites at home — the pick that held up.

It is Stenhousemuir's first season in the second tier since Scottish football abandoned the two-division system after 1974/75, and the win came against a Partick Thistle side that finished second in the Championship last season.
