Scottish League Two PREVIEW 19 Sep 2026: Edinburgh City bring a ten-goal statement into Kelty Hearts test

Five Scottish League Two fixtures go ahead today, and the model's clearest read of the round comes at Borough Briggs, where Elgin City are given barely more than an even-money edge at home to Stranraer -- the best of a set that offers little certainty anywhere. Its tightest call is at New Central Park, where Kelty Hearts host Edinburgh City with next to nothing separating them.

That fixture follows the story of last weekend's round: Edinburgh City's 7-3 win away at Stirling Albion, the first ten-goal game anywhere in the SPFL since 2018, built on hat-tricks from Innes Lawson and Keir Foster and another goal from Jason Jarvis, with City already five ahead at the interval. Kelty Hearts, unbeaten at home all season, now try to stop that run continuing, having themselves been beaten 4-1 away at Clyde last time out. Stirling Albion try to respond immediately, at home to the Clyde side that beat Kelty, under a returning face on the opposite bench -- Clyde manager Darren Young left Stirling Albion for the Cumbernauld club in the summer of 2024 having won them the League Two title, and goes back to Forthbank for the first time since.

At Borough Briggs, Stranraer travel on a four-match winning run driven in part by Lewis Dobbie, the summer signing from East Kilbride who scored twice in the win over Dumbarton and has now scored six times in his last five appearances. "I think that is six goals in my last four or five games now," Dobbie said, noting he has already played more minutes this season than in the whole of his last campaign. Seb Mason scored his first goal for the club in the same match, forming a new partnership with Dobbie. Elgin City, unbeaten at home but held back by back-to-back away defeats, face a familiar opponent in another sense: Matty Grant left Stranraer for Elgin in the summer and takes on his old club for the first time.

Dumbarton have strengthened at both ends of the pitch before hosting Spartans, bringing back defender Tom Lang -- who started his career at The Rock and joins from Falkirk -- and taking goalkeeper Mason Munn on loan from Rangers while first-choice Aidan Rice recovers from injury. Spartans arrive unbeaten in four, having beaten Forfar Athletic 5-1 away with skipper James Craigen captaining the side. Forfar, whose reply in that game came from Perrie, now host Annan Athletic, who strengthened their squad in midweek with a loan trio from Airdrieonians and forward Divine Iserhienrhien, and who arrive off the back of a 2-0 win over Elgin City.
